Current approach
TrueCost should use only technologies that are necessary for the operation, security and reliability of the service unless a user has been given the information and choice required by applicable law.
Before public launch, the production site should be audited in a browser to identify cookies, local storage, tracking pixels, analytics scripts and similar storage or access technologies actually used by the application and its providers.
Essential technologies
Some storage or access technologies may be strictly necessary to provide a service requested by the user or to maintain security. These should be documented here if present.
Analytics, advertising and other non-essential technologies
If TrueCost adds non-essential analytics, advertising, behavioural measurement or comparable technologies, the production site should not activate them until the required user consent has been obtained. Users should also be given an easy way to change their choice.
Browser controls
Most browsers allow users to delete or block cookies and other stored website data. Blocking technologies that are strictly necessary may prevent parts of the service from functioning correctly.
Production launch check
This page is intentionally conservative. It must be updated to list the actual cookies and similar technologies in use before TrueCost is publicly launched or monetised.
